Holy Thursday a time of reflection... Maundy or "command", the Washing of the feet, is a religious rite observed by Christians on Holy Thursday on the last week of lent before Pascha or Resurrection Sunday. The name is taken from the first few Latin words sung at the ceremony of the washing of the feet, "Mandatum novum do vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos" ("I give you a new commandment, That ye love one another as I have loved you" John 13:34)

I did not choose to be here and now. My destination from the beginning of my journey was chosen for me. My sex was chosen for me. My keepers or so called parents were chosen for me along with their biases, ethnic, and political status. I was helpless and reliant on their good nature to take care of me, feed me, clothe me, and protect me. I never understood that it was my duty to teach them unconditional love and humility. They taught me to eat by myself, put clothes on when I got cold, to go potty on the toilet. Not so I could become self reliant but so they no longer had to change my dippers. I was a drain on their resources from my birth. My keepers provided me with shelter, food, clothing, entertainment and medical assistance. I was alive and knew nothing of where I was or who I was with. Proximity dictated who my friends would be and where I went to school....
Culturally You Are What You Wear When my daughter was little, about 10 years old, she loved to go to cultural events with me. We live in Los Angeles and almost every culture is represented here with very few exceptions. We have eaten Bangers with the British, Flatbread at PowWows with the People, Sauerkraut with the Germans, Baklava with the Greeks, and Fish and Chips with the Scottish. Even Enjera and Goat with the Ethiopians Just to name a few This is a Banger Almost without exception, the men in each culture we visited at the Cultural events seemed to gravitate towards weapons, exhibition of strength, and military arts. The women tend to lean toward clothing and fashion. This is my observation only, and may not be the case in every culture or even what you may have observed. All the varied cultures had dances that were unique to their cultures and each culture seemed to embrace a common religious belief and eat food they learned to make ...
